Installing M series Hood Springs

I just finished installing my hood springs on my M series truck. I put them on after hood was on. This is what worked for me (might help someone else), Found nickles in springs did not work for me ,but by taking the front part of hinge( spring attaches to)(one side at a time)and removing it from hood and piveting it backwards, (while wife held hood),I could easily stretch the spring to hold and the hinge was easy to hook back to hood. Now, credit goes to my wife,who suggested this after watching me struggle to stretch the spring.I also went to lowes and bought plastic washers for hinge to hood to protect the paint on the hood.
