There was a post about getting scratches off plastic

I haven't tried it but I would think clay bar might do the trick. If the scratch is too deep for clay bar, perhaps some very fine wet sanding and then the clay bar.

If it's a late button, new lenses are cheap.

A Studebaker friend of mine that frequents this Forum told me he uses a product made by Maguiars specifically for plastics on his plastic Lark convertible back window scratches and has good success with it.

Ditto! The Meguire's stuff is great.

JP's right, SI has them cheap and you're done. If you are so inclined to polish because it sounds scary to sand, but use super fine grit wet sandpaper for anything but deep scratches, Meguire's polish and a good car wax after that with elbow grease and patience. Work slowly and practice on something else first to be sure. Tail lights are good ones to try, too.

I have some of the Meguiars product, designed for removing scratches from plastic, such as headlight covers on newer cars. The technology in this scratch remover product is pretty neat - The package says that the abrasives become progressively smaller as you polish (Microscopic Diminishing Abrasive Technology TM), so it's as if you started with an abrasive rubbing compound, and gradually decreased to a fine polishing compound, all in one step. I like it! This Meguiars product works well on plastic watch crystals, too (I'm always getting scratches on mine).

Jeweler suggestion to remove scratches from plastic: [u]Ulta Bright</u> Tooth Paste. TV set and lots of time. Dampen a cotton ball with UBTP and rub in circular motions. It made my Avanti tail light lense look like new.

I think the Meguiars will work on plastic eyeglass lenses, but I'd start with an old pair of glasses. It worked wonders on my plastic watch "crystal".
