  • Happy Summer Studebaker Evening

    Here's how it started out

Did a little dusting and cleaning and dropped this into place.

Decided to trade 2 dry filters for 1 K&N

A few hoses and clamps later.

Any tips on installing the belts?

Got the SC belts on after a minor rebuild of the tensioner spring linkage (broken pin). Added lube for the SC, bumped it over a few times, and fired it up. It was a bit quieter than I thought it would be. Not a lot of whine, even when revving. 1 AM, have to work tomorrow, but have to drive NOW. Took her out for a spin, couple of burnouts, a quick trip to 100. Different car than I drove before the SC got back. Now it's back to cleaning and getting ready for her big debut this weekend.

Make sure you read and follow the instructions that go with that K&N air filter...
Cleaning and re-oiling and drying it is a pita..

[?] What's the short version, Jeff? I didn't know they had to be "cleaned, dried, and re-oiled!" BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

I've run K&N's for 10 years at least. We've got a little system for the "renewal" process. It doesn't seem that long ago that all our equipment ran with oil bath filters, so the K&N's are kind of how we're used to doing things.

It's never as easy (or as cheap)as the commercials makes it out to be....
Here's the scoop on how K&N says to service one of their air filters.
            http://www.knfilters.com/clningacc.htm
            http://www.knfilters.com/cleaning.htm

            One caveat.....
I am NOT putting down their product (guess who makes it for them?)
I am only saying that if you want a truly fast turn around time for a filter swap with a K&N filter,
you'd better buy two of them and swap the fresh prepped one in at filter change time...
Then clean and prep the dirty one...
If you have the time to spare? No problem!
            Hope the info helps.
