  • Dipstick for transmission missing?

I cannot find the tranny dipstick. It is making a 'whirring' sound at lower rpm's. Wondering if my fluid is low, but don't know how to check it? The car is a '59 Siver Hawk with a 259. Thanks for your replies.

The dipstick is on the transmission hump. You have to pull the carpet back to get to it. Passenger side of the hump,if I remember correctly.

If a transmission dipstick from a 1953-54 Detroit Gear automatic will fit, I have one that you can have. E-mail me off list.

There is a cover on the right side of the hump covered with or without carpet and held down by 4 screws.
