  • Cruise Contols 1965 Daytona

Can't seem to find if Studebaker offered a Cruise Control device on my 1965 Daytona Sport Sedan. I am guessing they did not. Since my 65 is already a "modified" with a Chevy short block engine, can anyone suggest a brand or model of Cruise Control that would work on my 65 and if you have had any experience with one, good or bad, please feel free to comment. My car has an automatic transmission so I would think a Cruise Control would be fine with it. Thanks.

No, I believe 1965 is way too early for almost any car to have factory Cruise Control, except maybe a few luxury cars.

Those old 1970's conversion kits were popular in the day, there may be some showing up at swap meets, they were universal kits with contacts to be epoxied onto the driveshaft for speed "pickups" they worked OK.

They were made by good 'ol Co's like Borg Warner and sold by everyone, I have a Sears unit.

J.C. Whitney sells many different versions of cruise control. Check out their website.

I think i got the last one I used at NAPA.I used it to replace the broken factory unit in a chevy van as it was much cheaper and easier than repairing the original.Worked very well.Steve

Gee, I'm so sorry Dave, a previous post just mentioned 1965 was way to early except for a few luxury cars and I made the unforgivable error of Goggleing when that started out if curiosity. Lighten up a bit.

I use an Audiovox cruise control on my Hawk. It works great, cost about $110 at the Checker Auto Parts store. I was able to put it in so that the only thing left easily visible is one vacuum hose.
