  • Parking brake cable

I'm just getting around to installing my new rear parking brake cable (from Steven Allen)- took the old one off last year- it's been a bad winter around here!

It came with 4 clips- 2 of them go on the frame brackets- do the other 2 go on the cable where it meets that piece that screws into the backing plate? I haven't come up with anything that looks right. This is on a 57 Hawk, by the way.

"Clips" is a pretty broad term. How about a photo?[8D]

Miscreant Studebaker nut in California's central valley.

    1958 Provincial wagon
    1953 Commander coupe

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

Here is a picture of the backing plate with the Parking brake cable going in (sorry- a little bright for detail). The hold down clamp is screwed in all the way but the cable end can be freely pulled in and out of the opening (the cable hasn't been tightened yet). The other pic is of the 2 extra clips that came with the new cable. The brake end of the new cable is different than the old one- I'm wondering if anyone has used the new type- are these clips supposed to hold the cable to the backing plate? Unfortunately, I got it from Steven Allen so I can't ask him.
      Appreciate any help/advice.
It is nice to reach the point where I'm taking stuff out of my garage and putting it on the car instead of taking stuff off and trying to find a place for it!

Looks as if you may not have cable in clamp properly. Can't tell from photo but may have to be positioned further in clamp. My 56 isn't here
and I'm going from memory, though I do have a new cable with 2 clips here for reference. I switched rears recently and seem to recall being a little confused with placement of the ends on mine. If recollection serves me the positioning appeared incorrect until tightened and difficult
        to start nuts.
