    Bill,
Interestingly the inside of my '56 Sky Hawk did not have those indentations of the metal where the windlace goes. The metal in mine is straight all the way around with of course the cutout mounting "teeth" present as well. My Hawk is a LA built one, is yours a SB one and could that be the reason for the difference???

BTW, what is the 'core' diameter of your windlace, 1/2 inch (the stuff that has been around for a while) or the correct and now available 3/8 inch core as sold by SI. I put in the SI stuff in the fall and it went in well and is VERY close to OEM as it does have the mesh and wire tab.

I am using the Phnatom windlace. I think it is 3/8ths and based on other postings I have no idea anymore what is correct. If it is correct I am ahead of the game, if incorrect, most folks who will see the car would not know.

I have some adjustments to do on the curve, but using upholstery tacks makes it easy. I had to slit the windlace to make the curve and keep the visible part inside the cabin. Without slitting it, the material tends to move outward to the window.

9 days and counting. Car has to be done by Friday May 2nd.

So, what is the wood piece outside the window?

My tool chest. We inherited it from Ellen's family, we have no idea if we like it, or hate it. Some people think it is a magnificent piece.....

We are not sure if we do.

Well, from here it looks georgeous! Maybe has hand-made wrought iron hardware, looks like mohagony or cherry stained poplar. Is it the front of some cabinet and you attached it to the tool chest? Maybe you ought to take awesome pictures of it and post them on stove-huggers. Take it to the Antiques Roadshow..... sorry about the tangent, but it really looks pretty from here.

Oh, I'm sorry, so does your windlace.

If you think that is nice you should see the thousands, I repeat thousands of Valuable ANITIQUES ROAD SHOW stuff we got 8 cents on the dollar. We moved mom in here. A self proclaimed antiques roadshow devotee. She has led us on for the last 30 years how valuable her stuff was, "victorian" sofas, "victorian" dinning room tables, 40 silver trays, stem ware from the 19th century.

We kept some of the stuff and paid a woman from Southbey's big money to stage this stuff for the auction.............Wound up with less than $10K and we still have a house full of her crap.

Ellen and I giggle everytime the old girl sees an "expert" appraise an item and we say to each other..... okay."Buy it from me" ARS is a farce. I ain't schleping a cabinet anywhere or one of her lamps for someone to appraise it and then try and get 50% of the appraisel.

The company who bought her stuff, I will never forget that guys face, he was more interested in my STUDEBAKER stuff and kept telling me name me a price.

I will shoot you somepohotos of the cabinet...........once the car is finished next Friday
