  • Electric Wiper Motor For 49 2R

Does anyone know if there is a electric wiper motor (12V) that would fit in the original location?

    Thanks,
    Mike R

I have a friend who installed one from a Dodge Omni.

The later model '56-'64 Transtar Truck 12V electric wiper motors are a bolt in, with the driver arms and the center dash brace from a later "C" cab parts truck.

If you do use a 56 or later truck wiper motor (i.e., 12v), do try to get the wiper switch for that same year. They changed from 3 to 4 wire at some point, and the inner workings are entirely different between the two different 12v motors. BTDT.

The trick is, finding that dash brace (bracket) that the electric motor uses. It's nothing like the bracket that the vacuum wiper motor uses.
Of course, like Charlie says - if you're not concerned with originality issues..........
