change of color on windlace?

The plastic windlace around the doors of my 1960 Lark are not avaible in the orginal color. Can the color be changed on the obtainable black plastic windlace by painting or dying? The color needs to be flexible for installation around the bends of the door.
How do I go about this?

Since the Vinyl Dye works on seat material that flexes when sat on, I would think it would be fine on the Windlace.

There are spray products that will work, but I think you'd have better luck starting with a light color like tan or white (if available)
