  • 700R4 chevy rransmission kit

I will be using a Chevy 700R4 auto behind a 259 in my pickup. There are two adapters available, one from Fairborn and a alnminun one in Turning Wheels. Does anyone have any expearince with useing these adapters

    Either one is good (trustworthy).
I've got one simillar to the one in turning wheels. Nicely done. Not sure....but I think the one Phil has may be the same one.
Steel Tech has one...it weighs about 40 pounds...usable but too heavy.
I have one...but probably woun't be using it.

Why a 700? Unless you already have it on hand... The 200-4R is overall...a better trans.

FWIW, agree with Mike. I'll sell the complete 700R4/Steeltech adapter/crossmember kit in my Avanti, so I can put in the aluminum adapter and 200-4R.

      thnx, jack vines

How come nobody makes a kit for the Ford AOD? Wouldn't it look a lot cleaner and match up closer? Isn't the speedometer the same? And the GM kit calls for a Ford starter and modified ford flywheel, doesn't it?

Ford starter and a GM flex plate with a spacer in the center.
