    Upholstery Color

Is there a way to determine the color of the original upholstery if the original upholstery had been replaced years ago????

There are tin tags attached to the springs in my '53. I don't know if they denote trim or part numbers.

      Front seat cushion, B 299813
      Rear seat back, GLS 299817
      Rear seat cushions, F 299821 and B 299813
The front seat backs are in the shop; I don't have them here.

Yea... the production order.... Does it give the actual colors or a lot of numbers? I'm gonna get it anyway, just wondering. I read the thing there and it said "interiors".. I hope it meant the colors. I found a tag on the rear of the back seat with, again, numbers. The seats that are in there are probably the same color as they were when it was new... It's interior is the same color as its body...Velvet Black and Pima Red. It just seems that I remember the seat cushions pima red and grey instead of black. The same color grey as the trim and padded dash... Was it a practice for Studebaker to make its upholstery the same color as the car?

I'd say it would be much more common for Studebaker interior colors to be different than exterior color. An example of interior color on a production order is:RDV [red vinyl]

As I've already posted it on here, this is mine.

The interior on my Daytona is 829 BC for Blue Cloth. My car is blue so they interior and exterior both match. The interior colors back then were far more extensive than todays choice of gray or tan. A neutral color like white could have every interior color under the sun available (blue, black, green, red, etc). A blue or red car will obviously be a little more limited. I don't think you'd see the green interior in a red or blue car....

The production order gives numbers, but they're not that hard to decipher. My '53 was built with trim no. 7913 AG NY deciphered as Aero-gray nylon.
