Stude made them in the later years.
They had full flow oil systems.
They were made of cast iron.

What else would you like to know?

As an update to the basic Stude V8 engine that had been cast for a decade, the Studebaker corporation made the technological leap (after everybody else, of course) to a 'full flow' design...
(where ALL the oil gets filtered 'before' going to the cam/main bearings/rod bearings)
Previous to this, only the oil that happened to get pushed up into one head got filtered and dumped back into the oil pan..hence the term 'partial flow')..
This technological change came via a filter manufacturer that patented the 'integral internal bypass valve' that allowed oil to bypass the spin on oil filter during either the cold start scenario, or the clogged filter scenario.
Previous to this concept, there was no way to protect the bearings during the two conditions mentioned in a full filtration mode.
Studebaker's method of doing this was an external plumbing method to an existing block that had minimal casting changes made to the block (ie: Cost Control).
The change is definitely an improvement in the oiling system.
        Hope the info helps.
