Thank you to all! Great information. This bracket makes sense. Now at least I know what to look for.

Yes, Clamp Bolts and Nuts.
Here is a photo of the clamp on my '63 Champ. It's the same as your '49. Hope this helps.

The brackets noted above are just small (maybe 2" x 4"), rather heavy rectangles of steel that have a slight S-shape. One end is bolted to the bed frame, and the other end slides under the upper frame rail.

There's a simple bracket that's bolted on to the forward section bed on each side with only 1 bolt (keep it loose while lowering the bed and pointed towards the center). once the bed is lowered completely into place, put the rearmost bolts into the back of the bed to bolt only the rear section of the bed down.
Then swing the brackets under the top rail of the frame and tighten. Easy Peasy.

Attatch pickup bed to frame 1949 2r5
Greetings. I need to attach a pickup bed to a 1949 2r5. It didn't come with a bed from the factory. The manual refers to a "clamp bolt". I see mounting holes on the rear, but not on the front. any help would be appreciated.Tags: None
