  • Transmission / Overdrive: speedometer pinion gear number of teeth

    I am looking for the correct pinion gear for a 259V8 3.92 Dif W/ T86 O.D.
    Thanks

I'm thinking it should have 23 teeth, but I don't see that part in the SI catalog p.50

          Eric,
I am not finding that gear ratio in any of my speedometer pinion gear charts. Can you confirm that is what you have?

I believe the Last year the 3.92 was available was about 1956, it is a good ratio, just VERY Rare.

It would not have been available with Twin Traction.

True it does not have twin trac it is a 44, I removed this from a 59 silver hawk that was an automatic if you can believe that and the car had footwells filled with plaster go figure. That silver hawk came out of California. I was given a pinion gear part number (527689), but I don't know if it fits a T86.

I have a 3.92 dana 44 in my Champ pickup. It is the big axle truck model and is fitted with an Auburn Gear positrac carrier. It's behind a 700R4 O/D auto trans and has worked well for 50K miles in 5 years. For whatever that's worth to anyone.

It appears I do not have a chart with that gear ratio for a T-86 tranny. Maybe someone else has a more complete list. Sorry.
