  • Shocks: GM shocks from 70's 80's vs Konis , Bilstein ( for Studebaker)

    Your comments folks please.....
This is for a 56 commander -- I heard that the front shocks can be used from any full sized GM car from 1958 to 1985. The rear shocks can be used from a Camaro from the mid 1970s. w/ maybe some slight alteration....any comments here

and recently I learned others with fit below,
    for Konis:
    Fronts: 82-1184
    Rears: 82-1425

    Bilstein
    Fronts: # 55-5082
    Rears: # 55-R410

I have a 259 in the wagon, ( not a powerful Hawk for sure) with 1 in sway bar in front, AND soon to add rear sway.... with all this, I dont want overkill shocks, Yet, no need to go low cost for the sake of it.... ( Heavy Duty Gabriel for example) any comments on which way I might go ?
Working...
