Body / Glass: 59 Lark Taillight gasket installation advice

Hi,
Im trying to install the rubber gasket material that goes around the edge of my taillight housing, where it meets the body. Is there an adhesive or some way to keep the rubber in place when installing? Im sure there is a technique to it, I just dont know what it is.

These are the taillights for a 59 lark.

I have used adhesive as if I was installing door rubber and once it sets up on the tail light assembly you should be able to button the thing up. chet445

I use 3M weatherstrip adhesive available from most NAPA etc. in yellow or my preference, black. Don't forget to lightly coat both surfaces, let it set up for a few minutes prior to putting it together.

I figured some contact cement or rubber adhesive might be the way to go: I got some last night, will try again to make it work.

Be sure to put the seam at the bottom. I would think it would also line up with the fender separation line, but I do not know if that's the way it was done at the factory.
