  • Electrical: Factory routing for 57 GH battery cables and battery placement

I have looked through pages of tech but cant find info on the factory routing of the battery cables and the battery placement (posts location/direction) . I have seen it done various ways but want to find out the "factory" way.

C/K batteries always have the terminal posts inward toward the engine to prevent the hood from contacting them when closed. A group 24 battery fits and works fine with any model, 700-800 CCA is a good power range. Make sure your battery cables are of a decent gauge.

This is correct, but I will add, get a Group 24 or 24C, not a 24F (that has reversed terminals). Also, I would prefer a battery with more power.

On my 54 Champion the ground cable was attached to the motor mount, however because of poor continuity I attached it directly to the starter motor mounts.

It's the top bolt of the water pump manifold.

You will know regardless of any Brand specific Batt. Numbers on it, that you do have the correct Group 24 Stude. Battery if the Terminals are inboard and the Negative Post is FORWARD.
