  • Brakes: 2R5 rear drum replacement

    I have heard there is a way to use Chevy brake drums on the rear of a 49 pickup.

    See http://www.studebaker-intl.com for new brake drums, part number 1697013, fits all 1/2 ton trucks 1941-64, $195 each. They also have new studs to press into your hubs after you press the old ones out. The new drums are not cheap, but they fit exactly and your current wheels will work.

        It can be done by machining the hubs and replacing the studs. Depends on how much of the work you can do yourself.
