I have owned a few Studebakers with a later subframe, including a 1954 Commander Staliner with a Camaro subframe including its V8, disc brakes, ps, etc. The others were pickups with Camaro/Trans AM subframes. They were like driving a long wheelbase Camaro/Firebird. Change the differential to go along with it for the brakes, gearing and similar wheel lug spacing.

If the control arms are parallel (as viewed from both directions), don't waste your money and time.
A rebuilt Stude suspension will work just as well.

Subframing - worth it or not?

I am considering having my 54 Starliner subframed and would appreciate any feedback from those who have chosen to go this route. What type or brand etc. I will probably go with an LS engine. Thanks,
