  • Brakes: Need a shop recommendation for a brake job in New Jersey

I was out for a drive in my '48 Champion and the brake pedal dropped to the floor. The master cylinder was bone dry. I can't find a shop willing to do a brake job locally. Any recommendations for shops in NJ? I can have the car towed just about anywhere in the state. Thanks.....Ted

Call Ed Jones on the coast. He knows all in NJ and has a trove of parts (NOS)

Wow, it's pretty bad when a shop won't even do a simple brake job.

It would probably help if you could determine the source of your problem. A shop may take it on if you just need a line, hard or flexible. A wheel cylinder or master cylinder would probably be harder to find someone to repair/replace. Over what period of time did it lose the fluid (when did you last check it?)? Start by looking under the car to see signs of fluid that has leaked out.
