I have installed air conditioning in my 1962 GT Hawk using a refurbished 1962 evaporator and brand new "under the hood" stuff from Vintage Air. I have found out that to proper close the hood and keep it latched shut, I need part # 1556178. This part is identified as the "ROD, hood lock operating - K (w/air cond.)" on page 465 of the Chassis Parts Catalog. NOS would be nice or if anybody is parting out a 1962 GT Hawk with factory air and has that part, please advise.

So you need this piece to properly lock the hood. This picture might help.

Get a print at the archives and bend one.

My '62 GT had AC installed at some point and the rod was simply "tweaked" to clear the condenser. All it is, is a pull rod, just get a three foot rod from the hardware store and bend what you need.
