  • Drive Shaft: Hawk Driveshaft Differences

Are driveshafts for 1961-'62 Hawks and for 1964 Hawks interchangeable? They have different part numbers and their associated Spicer U-Joints have diff. numbers but driveshafts are the same length and seem the same.

Anyone have experience in interchanging the two?

Thanking All for Your continued help,

I think some '64s had Mechanics u-joints and some had Spicer 1310's. Just have to look and measure.

Just make sure that the Parts Catalog does show the SAME Yokes at the Trans. and Diff.

Other than that possibility, if the Length matches, yes switch them around all you want.

And of course, get either the different Font and Rear (Camaro?) Mechanics "U" Joints with the Split Rings or the very standard Spicer 5-153X (1310 Series) Snap Ring "U" Joints to match.

I believe it is ONLY all '63's, and early '64's had Mechanics Brand.
