  • Engine: Dip Stick Tube

    On a 1950 Champion 6cyl

How does one remove the retainer for the dipstick tube? I don't see how it is actually retaining. Any enlightenment would be appreciated. Thanks.

It slides down the dip stick tube then snaps under the rear bearing plate on the starter.

ID:	1720430This is a 54 model and it just presses in. Pulling and wiggling will remove it. It is a tap in fit.

Some of them have a heavy spring steel wire that hooks over the end of the starter.

Thanks folks. I now see how it fits around the starter.

Is this true for the 63 Lark 6 cyl? My dipstick tube fell off, and I’m a little baffled as to how that happened and how to fix it. Doesn’t seem like it would tap in. I guess there was a retainer that’s lost?

There's also a good illustration in the parts book.
