  • Fan spacer color

Is the spacer between the fan and pulley on a 1963 V8 silver, black or orange? [?]I asked this question at the last SB Intl meet and got these three answers.

My orig. 62 Gt spacer is silver(or aluminum).

The original metal color is silver when the paint is removed, and it did not stick to the smooth surface well. They painted the complete engine with the pulley and spacer on, simi-gloss Black before the Red-Orange fan blades were installed.

The only cars with original Orange spacers may have been the ones with HD (fixed blades) 6 blade fan, using different thickness spacers not the stock 4 blade fan.

I also have seen them with red or silver spacers, but not when new.
