That looks kind of like what I've been using on many rebuilds but I have not yet done an R2. Let us know who had them, and how the surgery went.

Yes, it will work for both the R1 and R2. Don't us the type sold by vendors that have the cheap rivet type valve retainers. Why settle for inferior parts?

R1/R2 fuel pumps are identical, internally. Rebuild kits were the same, from Stude. The difference is how the backside of the diaphragm is vented. An R1 can be easily converted to an R2, and the reverse.
I don't like the rivets as valve retainers, but you have the option of reusing the 'Mushroom" retainers. Most interesting is the suitability of Ford "X" pump rebuild kits.

Thanks guys. I found out from the guy I bought it from last night that it IS a "Then and Now" kit. I looked at the Ford "X" kits via Bez's link, NICE kit! They talk about using with modern fuels and needing a stabilizer, so I wrote to them and asked if Viton diaphragm like Then & Now's; probably is, just crappy gas for ANY car (or engine) with a carb....... but also getting hard to get non-oxygenated. Will see what he says. Might have a "Then and Now" kit for sale for someone with good valves and mushroom heads (if mine are not; fuel pump project is next on the list after the WW Carb, but not opened up yet). Will let you know.
