If you have the money you can fit ANY size wheel you want on the car.
But, chances are your last name isnt 'Gates'. As mentioned you need
to get an idea of WHAT you want, and then see if they will fit. As a
rule of thumb, pretty much anything that will fit an early Mustang is
possible to fit a Stude, though there are exceptions! Always measure
and check throughout the travel of the suspension. In the rear, keep
in mind that the leaf springs allow the axle to move side to side, so
just because it clears at rest, wont mean it clears on a turn!

I just bought a set of the NWRA 40273 F**D style rims for my 64 GT Hawk. The fit very nicely under the fender, clear the Disk brakes and are 15 X 6". ( You have to get the larger lugnuts also) The would certainly be compatible with chrome trim rings and even the dog dish Moon style center caps. Ask around at your NAPA store, they might be able to get them. If not, look in the back of your last issue of Turning Wheels.

Was there a car at a show that had some wheels sorta like what you wanted?
Have you seen some wheels that you just have to have?
I'd suggest looking at what's already been done, and talk to the owners of those cars. They may be able to help you get the info you're after. Keep in mind that if their car sits differently then yours that needs to be taken into account...

Is this to easy or do you have to measure.
Thanks Dan

. If you just want chrome rims to replace your stock ones and the car is at stock height with stock size tires, just get chrome duplicates of the stock wheels. IIRC they were 5 1/2" x 15" with 3" backspacing.
If you want wider wheels or wheels with a different offset than stock, and/or if the ride height has been (or will be changed), and/or if you will change to a non stock tire size, then all bets are off. You will have to measure and probably try some actual wheel/tire combinations on the car (front and rear...full lock on the steering...full compression of the springs).

Unless you go with a very narrow wheel, you will need a custom offset. I have generic 15x5s with a 5x4.5 bolt pattern on the front of my Hawk that fit just fine if you only want to run a 205/70 tire. I have 15x8s on the back with 255/60s, but I had to measure everything and order a custom offset wheel.
