Ed George just informed Ted Harbit and me that part-time Studebaker enthusiast (I believe he was an SDC member from time to time) Bill Rink of the Chicago area passed away earlier this week. Bill was a great guy, seemingly crazier than a loon and funny as all get out....but sharp as a tack. One time, Bill, Ted Harbit, and I went to have dinner at a restaurant somewhere, arriving maybe 6:00 PM. Bill was so entertaining that the three of us stayed and yakked until they started closing at 10:00 PM(!) and ultimately had to run us out, he was that funny. If you ever met and talked with Bill Rink, you never would have forgotten him...and would remember the encounter fondly.
I'm not sure what Studebakers Bill had at one time or another, but he had some. He was one of the few guys who continued running in what NHRA now defines as drag racing's stock classes, campaigning his 1974 Pontiac GTO; the Nova-based GTO. He did very well with it.
Bill will be missed.

RIP, Bill Rink.
