  • Where to stay in South Bend?

I'm going to Cleveland on business during the end of September, and I'm going to take a day to go visit the SNM and SASCO while I'm in the area.

If any members down that way would like to recommend a good hotel in South Bend, I'd appreciate it very much!

Motel 6 (Roseland) near ND is okay and cheap. Stay away from any motels on the south side.

I would suggest the Holliday Inn Downtown. I believe it is the tallest building in South Bend and the view of the city is great. We stayed on the 12th. floor, so I would ask for at least the 12th. I think it has 15 floors. We could see the gold dome of Notre Dame. There is a very nice restaurant in the basement also and other good eateries close by. Also the SNM is just blocks away on Chapin St.
      Have fun.

I agree with A1956GoldenHawk!!!! Went to SB on a midwest field
trip in middle of September 2003, where we learned that the
weekends that ND is at "home" the motel rates go up to the "special
event pricing" and finding a place, to stay, may be a little hard.
