Just received this today and I'm making no claims. All I know are the sites where it's manufactured and they're G2G because they're clients. There is skepticism and encouraging signs but the sample is small. Given our current circumstances I don't see how they could have any larger of a study this quickly. The same thing happened during the Ebola outbreak where a drug, normally used for a completely different application, was found to be effective. You use what you have at hand & hope for the best.

I have a PDF of the study if anyone is interested. I couldn't figure out how to post the PDF because I couldn't copy it to this post. If someone knows how to do that or can explain it I'll give it a try.

At the very least, this is promising. At best, it is GREAT! Thanks much for keeping us informed.

The big drug in the news today is hydroxychloroquine, also known as Plaquil. It’s a drug that has been around a long time and is well known, and early reports are suggesting it is very effective against COVID-19. They are working day and night right now trying to verify that.

It is one of the meds my wife is already taking for different reasons. Now, she is worried that there will be a sudden rush to overwhelm its production and make it hard to get. I hope this is not the case.

Heard the very same thing from a recent doctor visit - this is/was an anti-malaria drug from way way back. The active bitter botanical in tonic water is “quinine”; British sailors used gin to mask the disagreeable flavor of quinine when preventing malaria and hence, the delicious gin and tonic was born. Honestly.

POTUS Trump is all over the recent, promising meds, and pushing to get them out there for, "off label" prescription. Off label prescribing (using a med for something it was not originally R&D for) ha been common practice for decades. I predict Big Pharma will fight it though, since there's no $ in it for them. Instead, they'll reformulate it just enough to get a new patent, then raise the price 10,000 percent, then promote it for CV19. We shall see.

UPDATE: Looks like the FDA is delaying POTUS' initiative, saying they must review the clinical trials. For decades, the FDA has received huge $ donations from Big Pharma. Follow the money. I do not believe they will be able to delay POTUS for long though.

POTUS and his administration should have been worried about Covid 19 several months ago. Now POTUS in the last two weeks attitude has changed about Covid 19 since many thousand's people are getting and hundreds of good folks are dying from Covid 19. Kinda of like closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out.

The entire world is climbing a learning curve with CV19, including the medical community and government leadership at all levels, all parties and countries. Not a time for whining, sniveling or blaming, but a time for coming together and doing what we can at individual, national and global levels.

Joel: No whining or complaining on my part just telling the truth which some don't want to hear regarding POTUS.

jclary: I have been doing some reading about the med your wife is taking. It seems that your wife's concerns are coming true.

She is already on it. As a Registered Nurse herself, she has already alerted the specialist physician that prescribes it (who had been so busy that that doctor had not heard the news) and has locked in her supply for the near future. My wife spent the last twenty years before her retirement as a senior medical auditor at a large hospital. Not much of this kind of stuff goes unnoticed by her. For me, she has certainly been a blessing by cracking the whip to make sure I stay on top of managing my diabetes.

On the other side of things, no unscrupulous physician, nurse, or other medical professional wanted to be found padding the bill for services not rendered or charging for equipment not supplied, or insurance company try to weasel out of paying for covered services. She's polite, soft-spoken, and kind...but tough as nails when it comes to ethical principles and expects the rules to be followed. We met on a blind date before I left for Vietnam in 1967...so far...so good
