Thank you Bob. I'm new to studebakers but not to collecting and restoration. Mainly trucks, k5 blazers and suburbans. I was at the right place and right time for the hawk purchase. Took me only three weeks and I was hooked... So I got the second one.
Honestly, I would not have even considered keeping it until my research showed so many people willing to help with my questions. I can't stop reading about them now.

Hi Jeffrey. Wow! Starting your collection with a '56 Golden Hawk. Nice choice.
This forum is one of the best out there as far as I'm concerned. You have more knowledge here than you can imagine.
You might also do well to join the SDC as well as a local chapter. There is information and fun to be had there.
You have probably already learned that parts should not be a problem. We have over 200 vendors.
Welcome to the Studebaker world. We are so happy to have you with us.Ed Sallia

Looks like a Very bright, Heavy Metallic attempt at matching the Original Ceramic Green, fairly Close to the original.
I have no idea how close this one is, there is not enough Light. It doesn't look Bright enough though.
I have forgotten if the Trunk and upper Fin is a L.A. Plant change or a Dealer/Owner change, but in my opinion it looks better than Most of them that have the Straight, full length Two Tone Paint Line.

Thanks for all the compliments. Starting off with two was not my plan. Starting off at all was not my plan. I was contacted by the heirs of the hawk because they heard I was a collector of old cars and they needed it out of the garage because they sold the house.
I was only a few miles away so I went to see it and bought it. Fell in love quickly. Found a listing just a week later only a few miles away for the daytona so I bought it too. Just got lucky.

StudeRich, the previous owner painted it green. I think it was an attempt at the ceramic green. It's a little brighter and it does look different in real life vs pics. The interior green seats are more true. Green has never been my favorite but it's starting to grow on me. I'll keep it like this for now since it was just painted.

Here is how Studebaker did the two Tone with Leather Grained Vinyl on '65 and '66 Daytona Sports Sedans and a very few Late '66 Cruisers.
There is a Chrome Cap at the rear of the "C" Pillar and an Aluminum Moulding at the Bottom:
...................................................'66 Cruiser 4 Door Sedans had the Mouldings on units with both the Vinyl Top Option and Not.
NOTE: the Timberline Turquoise '66 Cruiser has a Owner applied '64 Body Side Moulding added, and the Lower Stock Moulding removed, looks Great like it SHOULD have been!
But of course I understand that in those Days, you HAD to make changes so they look different to Sell next years Models.
Even on the "Common Sense" no model changes '66 Studebakers!Last edited by StudeRich; 05-25-2021, 11:44 AM.StudeRich

Congrats on such a spectacular entry to the Studebaker world, with two beautiful Studes! If you have not done so yet, I highly recommend joining Frank Ambrosio's '56J Only Registry'. It is a sub club in the Studeaker world that focuses on 56 Golden Hawks only. Frank started the Registry in the late 1980s and, till today, still puts out a quarterly newsletter. Owning a 56J, there's not a better suggestion I could make.
