  • Buttercup gets a column boot.

Today I took the driver's side front fender off for what I hope is the last time. Had to weld 4 tabs onto the plumbing vent stack boot (that I'm using for a steering column boot) to attach it to the firewall.
Progress, yeahhhhhhhhh. Click image for larger version

Impressive! What does the other side look like, from inside the car?

A hole just big enough for the mast jacket to fit through.

I could have probably gotten away with just putting dum dum around the mast jacket hole. But this way I get a double seal. If one is good then two is probably better.

Looks very nice. Did you put any sort of lube on the shaft where it goes through the boot so that it will not bind/chafe/wear?

The shaft doesn't touch the boot. The shaft is in the mast jacket. The boot seals the mast jacket.

Thank you. That is clear to me now.

                    Be my guest.
I'm sure I "borrowed" this idea from someone else. I don't think I have had an original idea in my brain my entire life.

To learn to be a good artist one has to start with copying other artists...

LOL. I've been copying real artists all my life. I'm 77 years old. Recon how much longer it'll be before I become a "good" artist?
