  • IDYSD Unveiling a Commemorative Plaque in Hamilton Ontario

    Hi all,
On September 10, 2016, the Hamilton Chapter Studebaker Drivers Club will be unveiling a plaque near the site of former Studebaker plant. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. in the parkette owned by the city of Hamilton at the corner of Mars Ave and Wentworth St. This will be a permanent memorial to the effect that Studebaker Canada and its employees had on the city of Hamilton. This plaque was a joint venture between the Studebaker Drivers Club, the Studebaker National Museum, the Hamilton Chapter, the Ontario Chapter and the Canadian Avanti Owners Association. The plaque is to be 3 ft. by 24 inches. Our plaque committee, and our club has worked hard on this and the plaque is beautiful. Come on out and see lots of beautiful Studebakers!!

IDYSD Unveiling a Commemorative Plaque in Hamilton Ontario

Today as part of the Hamilton Chapter Studebaker Drivers Club celebration of IDYSD, our chapter unveiled a commemorative plaque in a parkette which faced the former Studebaker production facility. The permanent plaque will be installed in October and the plaque seen in this picture ( 36 inches by 24 inches), will be donated to the Studebaker National Museum in South Bend In. This project was assisted and funded by our chapter, the Ontario Chapter, the Canadian Avanti Owners Association, the Studebaker Drivers Club and the Studebaker National Museum and two generous private donors,Peter Downey and Stu Chapman. We are proud that now there is a marker to commemorate the contribution of Studebaker Canada and its employees to the city of Hamilton.

It looks great. A worthy, commendable effort by all involved. Congratulations. BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

        Ayn Rand:
"You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality."

        G. K. Chesterton: This triangle of truisms, of father, mother, and child, cannot be destroyed; it can only destroy those civilizations which disregard it.
