  • Our Drive your Studebaker fandango

We had a really nice day Saturday. Without any real prior planning, I cranked up the old Studebaker and we set out on back roads for the town of Naples in New York's southern tier. It was a great ride down through all the little hamlets located there. The entire area is rolling hills and lakes that are just perfect to travel through in a car just old enough to be looking at going onto social security. My Speedster loves hills and back roads.

In any event we headed for Canandaigua Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. We thought of heading to a friends cottage for a quick wine but decided that a no-notice, spur of the moment visit would be dumb on our part and we had'nt explored the west side of the lake in forever so we motored to lunch at a lakeside Bistro called The Bristle Harbor Hotel; a view great enough to host many weddings and good food while our Studebaker attracted enough parking lot lookers has to overshadow a brides entrance.

A nice, sunny day, temperatures in the mid-70's, no humidity and an old car; what could be better. We ended the day after driving the Studebaker over hill and dale for 175 miles. We had a day nice enough to make it worth the antique car price of admission, simply great fun.

Looking forward to repeating this little odyssey in our Corvette, top down of course.
