In 1956 there was a 15 minute TV show called Pressbox. It was the pregame show before the Brooklyn Dodger games. At the end of the show the guest which were sports columnists would give their predictions of the final outcome of the NL & AL standings. Whoever was closest to being right at the end of the season would win a '56 Golden Hawk. The scale model on the table was for display purposes. The final outcome wouldn't be known till late September or early Oct. By the time the car was ordered it would probably be one of the last off the line.

Very interesting promo! Wonder how much Studebaker had to do with it.

FWIW; the last 3 1956 Golden Hawks show a final assembly date of 8/15/1956. Two were shipped to the Philadelphia Zone Office and one to the Boston Zone Office.

That's interesting!...sounds like 1956 Golden Hawk production ceased far earlier than 1955 President Speedster production...My Speedster's (The Doctor's Car) final assembly was on 9/27/55!

Perhaps they were running out of Packard engines and/or Ultra-matic trannys and cut-off 56J production early?

Or did they have so much inventory they decided to shut down production? I don't know how well they were selling.

Wonder who won the Hawk? And the dealer who supplied the Hawk?
News article on NBC the other night about a kid won a contest in 1956 for a baseball glove from Bazooka gum.
Kid never collected the prize. Never sent the winning coupon in.
Seems Bazooka never put an expiration date on the entry form. "Kid" now in his 70's sent the form in and Bazooka honored it! He now has a new baseball glove.

I believe S&H green stamps are still redeemable, regardless of age.

Cool! I found some under the front seat of my '54 when I bought it 20 years ago. They're still out in my garage somewhere. I wonder what kind of stuff I can redeem them for now? I'm betting against something big, like a computer, ha ha.

I recall my brothers and I helping Mom paste those things into the little books which she would redeem for prizes. Wow, that was a long time ago!

Craig, thanks for the update information on S&H Green Stamps. Very interesting that they are still around. Unfortunately, I don't have enough to even redeem for a paper clip.
