  • Suggestions for seat upholstery.

I have been saving up to get the seats recovered in my 52 2 door. I don't want a stock cover as the car is modified and my wife is allergic to the wool blends from back then anyway. I would really like some kind of old-time tuck and roll, but I think cloth inserts would be more comfortable on long drives.
I am looking for ideas concerning a nice looking pattern to order. I find that most of the pictures of Studebakers in the 47-52 range that I have saved show all cloth seat covers. They look nice, but it is not exactly what I hoped for.
Anyone have pictures of some nice seats or know of a good place to find such pictures? Any car of about the same age may have a good example.

    here is one:

    http://www.lebaronbonney.com/cart/viewcart.php

You can "Build Your Own" here, I randomly built one for you!

Lebaron/Bonney is the Co. that bought out the Co. that John Poulos "JDP" used to sell for Studebakers.

I have not tried these, use at your own risk!

UPDATE: Opps, sorry I did not know their site saves your selections in that link, even AFTER you have changed them to something else. I had a '52 Commander 2 Dr. Sedan Set with Cloth Seat Material and then created a '64 Daytona and deleted the '52 not knowing the earlier Link would update!
A very complete, amazing Website, but I am thinking like you, I would have to have samples or go there to SEE this stuff, before I could be happy with choices from a Picture.

I was actually looking into buying my covers from LeBaron Bonney, but their site doesn't have many examples of completed seats. That is, if I am not missing a photo gallery somewhere.

I guess that would be a bit difficult since they do not install them, and there are SOooo many styles and materials.
They would have to depend on buyers to send Photos.

Right, that's why I was wanting suggestions. I may have to drag out my old car magazines and start looking. The problem with that is that I will get distracted and spend hours looking at other stuff.

I have used Lebaron Bonney several times and have been pleased. They bought Autocraft and incorporated that into their FAtboy line which is one of their cheaper lines. The quality and fit were both very good. I got extra material to match for the door panels. They will send samples.

ST2DE5 - What "line" of Lebaron-Bonney seat covers are your pictures of? They're NICE looking covers! If they're not LB covers, who's are they?

The upholstery shop came up with it. He had a bunch of patterns to choose from

That type of pattern has possibilities Carl. I wonder what it would look like with a vertical pleat in the inserts.
