I've always used bams50 because it pays homage to the days I owned my racing team, Bob Andrews MotorSports, and my car number was 50. I guess it's a personal thing for me, since no one here knew me then. My name and home are in my sig. line; and as it says, I prefer Bob

It would be great if everyone would list their city and state, but even better if when someone lists something for sale they'd do the same!

This subject comes back up from time to time, and I think that's a good thing... maybe it catches on with a couple more people each time[^]

Well, Mark is my real name - and both I and my truck are 1957 models, so it seemed to fit - less formal perhaps than posting my complete name. However, as many others do, I have more details as to my location in my profile and easily tracked down if someone is interested.

Dick - Your post on this subject was right on the money,[^] it is nice to know where the folks are from that you are "talking" to. I know that my geography has improved quite a bit as I have looked up the location of quite a few folks I have dealt with.

As I got a Forum button not that long ago, I'll be easy to recognize if you see me at a Stude meet or like function.[8D]

All are good points, but lets consider this story.A couple of friends were very involved in the Studebaker web sites. They answered a call for help from a individual who at the time was a very prolific poster .Help was rendered, but certain details of the whole issue did not add up,and it appeared as though they were being made unwilling accomplices in breaking the law.So certain questions were asked,to which unsatisfactory answers were provided by Mr.Prolific Poster. So these gentleman removed themselves from the situation, without malace or threat, and then were slandered and lied about to anyone who would listen, indirectly on this forum and other Studebaker related forums.Email copies remain to prove it all.Like you said ,once it is on the net,it is there for ever. Some know the real truth, and others have no idea what I am babbling about. But this kind of BS is exactly why some choose to use pen names,or nic names. It is also why some do not offer help as freely as before. Why stick yer neck out if someone is going to try and strangle you when you do?

As I've written in the "Help Others Help You" section of the READ ME FIRST post, I encourage members to at least post their city and/or state for reasons stated by others.

That said, whether or not to include any details in one's profile or signature is the members' choice and we respect their preference.

Well, as I've told here before, Mr.Biggs was a beloved pet bird of ours. (edit): I forgot to mention that I didn't choose to use this moniker because it happened to fit my physique - even if it does.[:0]
And even tho I've been known as StudeBob for quite some time now (a name I adopted after local gearheads started calling me that [:I]), I wanted to start afresh when I came to the SDC forum.
Some have suggested there was some form of subtrefuge or masking to my multiple nomers, but it was partly a nod to our faithful old friend and partly playful silliness - since this IS supposed to be fun.
This ain't the only place I hang out and post to, but it (and the truck forum) are the only ones I talk Studebakers on. On those "other forums", I use different monikers than the ones mentioned above. I LIKE being able to keep my interests in one realm seperate from another, so if that's considered some sort of cloaking manuver....[B)]
I like the net and the unbelievable plethora of "stuff" it offers. But I'm not into layin' out my life and soul in MySpace or FaceBook fashion. That's just beggin' for trouble![}] My world's no so bereft of friends that I have to troll for them.

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

But I don't know if it is feasible to ship or not. Just a thought. I know what it is they think I might be driving thru and stop for a cup of coffee.

Why don't I post my town?

I'm nationally known in another field, and have had (im)perfect strangers come to my town, look up my address in the phone book and drive to my home when no one was there, then meet me elsewhere and tell me about it. My home is so isolated that anyone could throw a rock through the front window and clean me out in my absence and no neighbors near enough or with sight lines to interfere.

Thats' why I don't post my home town.
