  • Studebaker Logo for 1961

Which logo was Studebaker using in 1961? I have looked at all the 61 advertisements and brochures I can find and none of them have any of the normal lazy S logos I am familiar with. I did see a couple publications that had the S P positioned over a flattened out V shape. Was this the official corporate logo during the Studebaker - Packard years? If it is, does anyone have a nice image of that logo?

    Thanks

    Wayne,
I saw the same things you did. It appears the ads didn't start using the lazy S logo until the 63 models. In fact, I don't see the use of a corporate logo from 1959-62. In 58, they were using the Hawk logo extensively, but that seemed to disappear with the introduction of the Lark.

Perhaps Mr. Quinn or BP or someone else in-the-know will chime in with knowledge.

The answer to that one is quite obvious, since from 1954 until 1962 they were NOT the Studebaker Corp. but the Studebaker Packard Corp. they were using the "S-P " over "V" Logo.

So it would follow in 1963 the Red, White and Blue Circle was added to the old lazy "S" used prior to 1954/'55.

The Beautiful Super Lark/Hawk '64 Grille Badge, is an excellent example of just how SHARP that '63/'64 Design actually was.

Yes, the S-P logo was the corporate logo in '61. Others used that model year shown on the image below.

Thanks. As you can see in my avatar, I created one from a photo I found online.
