1961 colour names ?

Hi Stude guys,
I seem to have misplaced my 1961 Studebaker paint chip info.

What colour was the turquoise green colour used in 61 ?


I have a lovely 1961 Hawk with 69k original miles that has found its way into my garage. 3 speed OD, factory air, radio, trunk antenna, hill holder. It is a nicely restored LHC car that came over from the US in 1992

I'm no expert on 61 Hawks, but I did notice this $9.99 item on Ebay with a closing date of October 4. Hope this helps.

I have read that there was a Canadian spring color called Seamist Green (P6126). I don't know what it looks like.

Lots of paint chips there- although making an exact match from those pics would be a little tough...

Jade Green is the correct answer. I am sure I nhave a 61 data book somewhere, but just cant find it. I am just getting older and my mind is slipping....

i have owned a Jade Green 1961 with original paint. I would not describe that color as "turquoise green." Assuming that you are talking about the original color on the car, have you checked the bottom of the glove box for the factory color label?

Whatever that color was,"jade green" or whatever, its the ONLY shade of green I ever liked on a car.
Theres a guy in our chapter that has a 61 Hawk with that green and white fins. Beautiful!
I may have told you guys about this before,but its a good story.
Lester Weston,the man with this Hawk, was working for the Studebaker dealer in Saint John New Brunswick at the parts counter, when in late 1960 this particular Hawk came in. Lester fell instantly in love with it,he he dreamed and schemed,but there was no way a young guy working at the parts counter could swing financing a new Hawk.
For some reason, he wrote down the serial number, and follwed up on who bought the car,hoping he could mabey purchase it later. The original owner sold it after a few years,and Lester was able to keep in touch with where his beloved Hawk went, to some guy in Prince Edward Island.
Years past,and Lester lost track of the Hawk.
About 10 years ago,Les picked up a local "Auto Trader" rag and found a 61 Hawk, green and white in it. He called the number.
The Hawk was there and it was still for sale.
He asked the owner if he could give him the serial number. Lester felt almost spooky he said,when the guy named off the exact numbers that Les had written down 30 some years ago.
Needless to say, he was on his way to buy the car and bring it back home.
The owners over the years had been kind to the car,couldn't have been driven in the salt much,because it wasn't to rusty.
The interior was trashed,and it needed everything,but it still sported what was left of its original paint.
Well, you should see her now boys, I can get a picture if you want,because shes as like new as any 61 Hawk Ive ever seen. Everything is as the day Lester first saw her,and I don't think any amount of money would buy her.
He has a nice Lark too,and a Model A that he bought from my dad, but Lesters "baby" is his 61 Hawk.

There were 3 1961 Spring colors, one being Seamist Green (a re-issue of a 1959 Spring color), it is more 'turquoise' than the more common Green Jade.

There were 3 1961 Spring colors, one being Seamist Green (a re-issue of a 1959 Spring color), it is more 'turquoise' than the more common Green Jade.
