Posted this one on the South Bend history site a few days ago. I have others both old and newer (color).

Might the South Bend Historical Society (assuming that there is such an organization) have photos?

  • Studebaker Main Gate and Guard House to be reassembled in South Bend

Been talking to City officials and they are very enthusiastic about putting the Main Gate and Guard House back up that has been in storage for many years. They are talking about putting it back up in Ignition Park near its original spot or incorporating it into the new streetscape being built around South Bend recognizing its historic value. The problem is no architectural drawings can be found but think that if we get some really good pictures or information on it that it can be put back to it's original splendor. I read a post on the forum from 1999 I believe of members who took pictures of it before its disassembly but couldn't pull them up for some reason. If anyone has anything that would be of help and could e-mail them to me so I can forward them to the City It would be greatly appreciated and would resurrect about the only part of Plant 2 left. My e-mail is tim.janowiak@gmail.com. Thanks in advance.
