First Gen Lark sought

Spring cleaning time?

I have a friend without internet access (he's a bit curmudgeonly), who is looking for a first gen Lark that has Tahiti Coral, Flamingo or another pastel-shaded finish. He cares less about mechanical shape than the body and is willing to look at any and all in number 3 condition or above. Location: Detroit.

Yes- she's still for sale 'as is' at a very nice (negotiable) price of $999.

But now there is a third '59 Regal in the family~


That one has a six/od and may or may not be on the market soon...

All I need to know is what your idea of 'condition three' is.
Neither car currently runs if that matters.

Really a tough call, but I'd say that 6 cyl. would be nice to get a hold of, not knowing interior condition though it catches My Eye.

It's actually pretty nice inside, but we have yet to clean it up.
However since the Lark VI is my brother's car~ I will not be posting any more pics just yet.

really, really nice car William. I wonder what Studebaker was thinking putting a 120mph speedo in it though? Honestly, this car doesn't have even a breath of a prayer to make 120mph! Looks impressive in the dash though. Sweet little car. I'd bet she was originally purchased for a sweet sixteen girl. Just has that look.

Thank you Studeclunker she is a nice little car. Don't really want to see her go but I have to many cars. And she deserves a good home with some one that knows what she is. 120mph not even dawn hill.

Actually, 120 MPH IS possible.
120 MPH = 10,560 FPM
26.9" Dia tire= 7.0404 ft/rev
10560/7.0424=1499.4888 RPM
1499.4888x 3.31=4963 RPM

26.9" Dia tire, 3.31 Rear gears, 1:1 transmission ratio = 4963 engine RPM

I've been VERY close to it in my 59 Lark w/ 259 and 4V, AT. I ran out of road.

Maybe they did that to remind you that a V8 has all that and more...

But seriously- you don't really think they should'a had a different speedo for the cars with a six do you? They hadn't done it before- why would they start with the Lark...?

I think so. It takes you a half moment to discern a '61 from '59 or '60 (unless you're staring at the dash). Much bigger change between '61-'62 then in previous year. Even though Skybolt begins with '61...
