How far will you drive?

It seems to be that the cars I want the most are on the West coast or Northwest... I frequently hear people say western cars are the only way to go- cheaper to ship than repair rust...[|)] But in reality that only makes sense for more valuable cars! I saw a solid, straight, non-running Lark sell on eBay about a month ago for $260!![}] Broke my heart! But add $1200 shipping- IF you can find one who'll mess with a non-running car- and that kills it!! [V]

If anyone can recommend a shipper who will pick up a non-running car and bring it from say, CA or Oregon for a price that'll make sense to buy a non-Avanti, not #1 or #2 non-supercharged Stude, I'd love to have that info!! Till then, I'll have to save the ones that come to me on this end of the country...

BTW Gary- did you get that 51 truck?

Back in 1999 I flew from Jacksonville, Florida to Los Angeles, California. The next day my cousin and I drove to a 'burb of Sacramento to have a look at a nice little '57 Commander sedan we all now know as 'Baby'...
I brought her down to LA and got lots done, but went back to Florida Studeless. Several months later I went back to Cali, finished up the 'must-dos' and then Dad and I drove her clear across the Country! I don't recall the exact milage I'm sorry to say, but it was Coast to Coast... [:0] [^]
Two years later I did it in all over again in the opposite direction~~ by way of South Bend for the International Meet!!!!

Most project cars in the Midwest are badly rotted. While still in the Detroit area, I bought my '64 Daytona from a guy in North Lake Tahoe, CA. I drove out in two days and towed it back on a tow dolly with my Ranger in 3 days. The car was then towed with the same tow dolly in June down here to Lakeland. I got a solid, rust free shell, but I don't think I'd want to make that trip again.

I'll probably stay in the Southeast area with the possible inclusion of Texas. Any further and I'd be killing myself with the driving.
