In 1962, I checked out the Avanti at the Studebaker dealership in North Hollywood Ca.
The salesman quoted me a price, taxes, and liscense included, of $4,700.00 out the door for an R2.
I was making about 125.00 a week, doing concrete work, and figured I had no problem making the 3 year payments.
....However I was 17 years old. The salesman said that I would need a co signer to complete the deal.
My Dad refused to co sign, and the deal fell through.............Probably saved my life.................
