It snows out there, in the flatlands and the mountains.
Winter of 1992-93 comes to mind. Four to 6 inches of snow around El Paso
TX and Las Cruces NM area.

I came thru Albuqurque (SP?) in December of '81 - I was SO happy that I'd never changed out the mud 'n snow tires that I'd put on it in Georgia! BTW, in Georgia I used to take that old Champ to places that the 4-wheelers would shy away from.

Studebaker continued to production the military trucks until sometime in 1964 when Kaiser-Jeep took over the contract and plant.
Of course Kaiser-Jeep's military plant became part of AMC as AMGeneral
in 1970 or so.
I used a 1963 Studebaker 2.5 ton M50Al water truck at Ft Bliss,TX on the tank range. We fought fires and filled storage tanks for swamp coolers with it.
