  • Avanti won American Muscle Car class award at Keels & Wheels Concourse d'Elegance

My old 75 Avanti was selected by the committee for the Keels & Wheels Concourse . Our Third Coast Avanti chapter had a very nice frame off restored 63 R-1 and another nice Avanti II in the show (committee wanted an Avanti package). My 75 was submitted only because short notice and logistic were a problems for some of our nicer R-2s and R-1s.

So, when mine won I thought my buddies were teasing me. Even more amazing my 75 won the American Muscle Car (not Stude or Avanti) award against some nice Shelby, GTO, 442, Chevy muscle entrants worth 10X my driver Avanti. The judges were pros which were brought in from around the country. I guess the take away is not be shy, our Avanti are viewed right up there with the best of the 1960s icons.

My question: Your post mentions your 75 Avanti several times. Your signature line states a 74 Avanti, along with a trio of Corvettes. Do you have both 74 and 75 Avantis or is one of your "statements" incorrect?

Congratulations on your wins. And I love Avanti's

But really, a '75 Avanti with 180 horsepower and 16+ second quarter mile times is a 'Muscle Car'?
But I can't help but imagining how a ZZ502 crate motor would take care of that niggling detail.

My question no longer makes sense now that you have changed your signature line to read: "75 Avanti".
