Wonder if the roof of this wreck would have been as intact if Avantis didn't have the built in rollbar?

Appears the 'Safety Cone' door catch that Studebaker borrowed from Mercedes Benz did not work in this instance.

Looks like a good lesson in how to re-straighten a frame...

Wonder where the fuel tank ended up?

There is what's left of a mag wheel still bolted to the rear end. The spare looks great, though!

Good question, looks like it yanked the filler neck out too.

I was STUDEBAKER, when STUDEBAKER wasn't "KOOL".

I hope the accident wasn't caused by wheel failure!

I'd like to see the police crash investigation report on this one.
                Kind of weird.
RF on the station wagon. RR on the Avanti.
Would seem to be a perpendicular wreck. The wagon t-boning the RR of the Avanti.
The broken drum and wheel shows some angle to it.
Wonder if the wagon ran a stop sign, or stop light.
Momentum carried the Avanti off on a new trajectory after the impact.
Wagon didn't look like it went very far.
Maybe the Avanti turned in front of the wagon?

That reminds me, I'm still looking for a basketcase Avanti, but not as bad as the one in the accident!!!!
