  • Misrepresented & overpriced

I received a link this morning to an E-Bay ad for what was described as a 65 Daytona. Based on the pictures it appears to be a 66 Commander 2 door sedan, 6 cylinder, automatic. "For parts only" asking $3995 sounds steep to me. You decide:

    62 Daytona convertible V-8 4 speed & 62 Cruiser, auto.
    63 G.T. Hawk R-2,4 speed

It is a 1966 two door, though. And, it is from California. Must count for something! <G> It looks especially good from an East Coast point of view!

Is a CA. car which would add a little but not enough to hit $4000. Most of your flippers are use to Chev,Ford, Mopar. They don't know that a stude will bring a whole lot less and think they stole it when they got it and are going to make some good money on it.

I've sent a message to the seller suggesting that the car be represented correctly.

I am less than 5 miles from the seller. If anyone would like me to take an "up close and personal" look, please PM me.

Looks to have a good dash pad, well untill you touch it anyway.
This puppy has been sitting awhile from the looks of things.
                Maybe $1000. On good day.

There was a 1950 Champion 2 door sedan on ebay a couple weeks ago. It said it had overdrive, and when I emailed the seller to let him know it didn't have overdrive, he asked what made me think that. I said it has no T handle with OD, it has no overdrive relay, and no kickdown switch. He never did correct the listing. I wonder what the buyer thought when he found out?

The dash and the steering column and wheel look to be an unusual color. Kind of grey looking. I Have seen black and blue dash pads, were there other colors available?

Appears to be gold on my monitor here.

Yes, I guess it is gold. So they either changed the dash or the black door panels! The door panels look to be correct for '66, though. It looks like it may have originally been Artic White by what shows under the hood. I hope someone can get it for a more reasonable price!

I dunno, with the vinyl roof, looks like it could be a Daytona SS, and someone has removed the stainless strips from around the door and window pillar. Stranger things have been done.

The front grill panels are not matt black as a Daytona or Cruiser would be. Looks to be a Commander grill. I do not believe that the Daytona had the "S" symbols on the side. no chrome around the doors and the rear does not show the proper "Daytona- Studebaker" alum/chrome trim.
