  • eBay alert: 289 with bonus body in San Diego

This 62 Lark's as rusty a bucket as you'll ever see (look at those floors!), but it's got a running 289 and FOM, opening bid of $850. Lots of rust-through; obviously not a California car. Glass, stainless, bumpers and door panels all look usable; upholstery and sheet-metal are shot.

This one's about 5 miles from me, so if anyone's interested and wants a personal inspection, gimme a shout.

You call that "rusty"? You must have led a sheltered life <G>.
There is less exterior body rust than most three year old Studebakers from the rust belt.
Thursday, I was at a vehicle auction where there was a 1996 Chevrolet S10 pickup with 40,677 miles that had both more body rust and more floor rust that that 1962 Studebaker. The S10 sold for $1850. I think that most of that money was for the plow rig and crossover box with it.

As Gary says, a little tar, some galvanized metal and some sheet metal screws for the floor repair and that baby will last another 40 years.

It IS all relative, isn't it [^].

It does have the "reconditioned intake manifold" ([?][?])...

...but that tire with the slow leak is really going to kill the price [)].

I have to agree. It's not that rusty. Could well be a "California Car" - just one that spent it's life near the coast. I've seen even later model Studes that were kept near the coast for only a dozen years (Pete, for example!) that had lots of rust. Heh - a good-running 289 is worth his opening bid, but I doubt it'll get one.

Nah, that car isn't that bad. Heck, a LOT of the cars we have are worse than that! (And we've restored worse)

You west-coasters don't know what rust is!

Now, Lee DeLaBarre's Lark sedan; THAT was a rusty one. [V]

Or how 'bout this '60 Hawk at the shop?

Yes, that is the frame rail.

How restorable does that Lark look now? [)]

Shoot MB! A little PC7 epoxy putty, coupla rolls of Duct tape and a few cans of Walmart flat black spray paint and that baby would be cruisin' again![]
