  • Hail Caesar !

I've been pondering buying a full package, R2 GT Hawk for a month or so, but could not get the price down the 2K I wanted. Yesterday morning I went out to my R2 GT and was greeted with a cold rain. On impulse, I picked up the phone and booked a room at Caesar's in Atlantic City and drove up for a day off.
To make a long story a bit shorter I won 5K on two slot jackpots, came home and called to buy the GT that Caesar helped pay for and the owner came down $1500 too. Here a sneak peek a "Caesar" my new Superhawk.

You're getting rid of those ugly, incorrect wheels aren't you?

Is that Super Red John? It does not look like Bordeaux in the pics! Actually looks a bit rosie.

It's a 63, and was Super red from the factory, but someone that knows the car thinks it might be Regal red now.

                    John:
Just looking from your photo, those wheels look alot like those Mopar factory mags from the late 60s? If so, they're worth a kings ransom to the high buck Mopar guys. Stunning Hawk...

They are American Racing mags, very similar to the wheels Studebaker used on early prototypes and seen in some test reports. Here's the Halibrand version of the "kidney bean" wheel on the Roger Ward Avanti he won from Studebaker.

I think those are either Halibrand "kidney beans" or else the modern American Racing repros of same (known as "Salt Flat") - not a factory wheel for anything. The spinners look like the real Halibrand spinners, but I know that they can be adapted to the AR wheels - seen it done before. I do like them, just haven't gotten to the point where I'd pony up the $$$ for new ones, esp. when I have 7" wide (steel) wheels on my car already.
