Welcome Chris, to the SDC and to the SDC Forum!
I have welcomed at least THREE New Members here in the last 2 days, that's a VERY GOOD Sign for the future of our beloved Marque!!

This is a VERY easy Site to navigate, it just takes some getting used to it.

To reference a certain Post, you go to the Post you want to comment on, then use the "Reply with Quote" button at the Lower Right. it will then be copied and you can delete the unrelated portions if you wish to shorten the Post and save Server Space, and then adding your own comment.

You can later Revise your post with the "Edit Post" Button and then "Save", unlike some other Sites, and even Delete one, posted in error or an unnecessary one.
A NEW String you started, cannot be Deleted by yourself, you can ask one of our Moderators to do that.

This is a very nice looking "T" Cab 8E7-112 T4 Standard Cab Champ Pickup.

The interior has been greatly upgraded with New redesigned Seat Covers and Door Panels.
Carpeting and a Deluxe Horn Ring from a '61-'66 Regal Lark Type have been added and an INSIDE Hood Release from a '59/'60 Lark, a good feature!

Looks like any '62 to '64 Deluxe Cab Champ with the Bed or Box removed, but that Rear End is likely from a Dually 1 Ton or Larger Truck, the Pic is not good enough to tell what front wheels it has.

Have you EVER seen a Truck Serial Number Plate with rusty steel Rivets instead of Welds?
                  It has to be modified/removed/replaced.

Don’t know why it is that way. This is another example of a VIN plate from a 7E12 attached the same way.

E7-21903 An 8E7-122. With a New Process 5-Speed Overdrive transmission C-92802, and 259 block number 535601. It has a Stromberg WW 6-132 carburetor. I'm not sure which parts came with this truck, or were put in later by someone else. It may be towards the end of the production run, and they were just pulling parts here and there to make up a truck.

The gearbox refurbished, cleaned and back in. And I notice that the cab sits on two 2x4" blocks of wood - with no plate to hold it to the frame.

The carburetor, rebuilt. The linkage doesn't look quite right to me. I haven't tried to start it yet. It was missing a thermostat housing. I was able to buy another carb from eBay and took the best parts of each. There was no fitting between the thermostatic choke and the breather to the valve cover, so I epoxied a tube into a bolt.

And when I was under it to replace the transmission oil, I discovered that the cab wasn't bolted to the frame. I suppose it wouldn't have been a problem unless I rolled it into a ditch.

Thanks Ace - good thing you found how the cab was mounted (or not) to the frame - not too much driving and it might have been bad news. There should be a rubber pad between the bolt and that out-rigger that the body rests on. In a pinch, I have seen an old tire sidewall used for that purpose. Along with the two bolts on the floor board, there are two bolts close together through the floor at the back of the cab - they go through a cross member to support the back of the cab. These will get bad enough floor rust that the floor boards will rot, and sag with the body eventually resting on the steering column - causing additional problems.

To find out what your truck was equipped with originally, you can order a production order from the Studebaker National Museum (https://www.studebakermuseum.org/sto...duction-orders). This is what was printed up by the factory as to what it left the production line with - but keep in mind - dealers would always add things to "dress" up a vehicle or at the request of the new owner. If your truck originally came with the 5 sp/OD, one indicator of that would be the steering wheel - if it is still original. Floor shift trucks came with the earlier round wheel found on '60 Larks back to '57 cars. Column shift trucks, starting in '61, had the oval wheel found in the Larks starting that year.

This is the wheel I am talking about - out of a known floor shift truck (although the cab paint is not original - wheel is correct)

Good luck and keep us posted as to your progress.

Welcome to the SDC and to SDC Forum Ace! Glad to see ANOTHER New Washingtonian here!

You REALLY got me confused on this one!

The Thermostatic Choke Cover has a small tube that goes into another tube in the Center Heat/Exhaust Crossover Port of the Intake Manifold and looped back out, just to gather HEAT for the Automatic Choke.

None of this would be connected to or have anything to do with a "Valve Cover".
Of course all of this is on the Right Side of the Carb. so I can't see any of what you are talking about.

The Crankcase Breather system would be a PCV Valve connected by rubber Hose to the Tube coming out of the Back of the Carb. Base and connecting on it's other end to the rear of the Lifter Cover.

All of the Parts you describe and show look correct for a '64 V8, including that Stromberg Model WW 6-132 which IS a 1964 Carb.

We do not know of any last minute substitutions, parts shortages or mixed parts on ANY of the Last South Bend Studebaker Cars or Trucks.

All of the Correct Parts are very well called out and illustrated VERY well in the Studebaker 7E to 8E ('62-'64) Truck Parts Catalog.

ID:	1728180 < Here is a '63 or '64 Champ "T" Cab Pickup. (it enlarges 2 more times)
That curled Tube is the correct Choke Heater Tube going into the Intake Manifold.

NOTE: please pay NO attention to that Upper "Hot" Water Inlet Hose going to the Climatizer Heater Core, it is SUPPOSED to go to the Control VALVE to control the Temp. but this one is incorrectly routed to the Core, so it cannot be turned OFF and is running backwards.
