Hi, I'll add my 1964 Champ to the registry.
Owner: Robert
I bought this truck from a nice man in Lubbock, Texas in Nov. 2016. I paid a transporter to deliver it.
1964 Studebaker Champ---V8 engine w/factory dual exhaust---factory 4 speed floor manual shifter (?)---long box/8.5 ft.
odometer stopped at about 63,500 mi.---engine looks untouched---all original glass---inside cab truck is very nice, original naugahyde (?) bench seat and headliner are both in very nice original condition--- radio is original---sat under a carport for about 11 yrs before I got it---tires are rotten--totally inoperable right now--all original powertrain components---driver door latch is bad, must shut real hard---has serious rust in passenger door bottom and 1/4 panel---prior owner's uncle did a DIY replacement of rusted floorboard pans---there is surface rust about the truck---underneath looks a lot better than the truck's body does---I pray no real bad issues underneath---I think the engine is a 259 cu in w/maybe a single barrel---it is a sort of tan mixed with rust color outside---the bed was painted a medium green(?)---previous owner drove it 2-3 yrs while going to Jr College in Lubbock, then I think he got a newer vehicle---he said it coughs when starter fluid is sprayed in it. Tomorrow a local mechanic is supposed to come take a look if weather calms down
. My goal is to get it running, stopping, and braking like a truck should. I plan to work on rust myself, and cut worst out, and study videos about body filler. I do not want it to look pretty, it looks so awesome now, sometimes I just go and look at it. My plumber loves it, he was here to fix water heater and his Dad was a Studebaker guy, he even loved the 8.5 foot bed ( only a plumber could do that right
). The VIN number is: E721420. Last, I guess I'll need to install seat belts once I get it running.
